Voxia is a collection by Peter Karpf for Iform, consisting of laminated chairs which have been moulded in one piece.
The chairs have a patented composition of veneer layers cut on the bias, resulting in maximal strength, stability and bending abilities. The shape itself solves functional and structural issues, and is in production both ecologically and economically sound.
There have been numerous attempts to try to achieve the one-piece plywood chair. What great architects started, Karpf have concluded. VOXIA is the experience of beauty, function, technology and ecology through one sheet of laminated veneer.
Peter Karpf is a danish architect born 1940 in Copenhagen. He was educated at Fritz Hansen and the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts in the 50s and 60s and has cooperated with Piet Hein, Grete Jalk, Arne Jacobsen & Erik Herløw. Karpf worked with the idea of the Voxia collection for over thirty years before it was finally realized.
