Jetson 66 High-tech look for Bruno Mathsson original

Bruno Mathsson Jetson 66 easychair featuring steel frame and high-tech fiber net at Stockholm Furniture Fair

In 1966, Bruno Mathsson presented Jetson, a new easychair in steel which has become a modern classic. Having been out of production for a number of years the chair is now being re-launched at this months Stockholm Furniture Fair by Bruno Mathsson International. Naming the chair Jetson 66, the company has combined the chairs original design with new high-tech materials.

Bo Thelander, MD of Bruno Mathsson International says: “Although Bruno Mathsson is probably most famous for his sleek furniture in bent laminated wood he saw the possibilities in steel to create light resilient furniture.

In 1965, inspired by the dawning space age, Bruno Mathsson designed the sculptural futuristic looking easychair Jetson for which he developed a new solution of using a frame with the supporting textiles forming the seat. Bruno Mathsson experimented with many materials available at that time but many such as net failed to meet the technical requirements the design demanded.

Today, new high-tech materials have given us the opportunity to present the chair using a supporting net of high strength fiber which combines comfort and lightness as well as offering the chair in traditional materials”.
